The year 2016 has seen the rise of web series like no other year has before. People have been lapping up these online web series with as much passion as the makers have been creating them with. You haven’t jumped onto the web series bandwagon yet, here is a list of the web series you must watch before the ball drops on 2016.

1. Little Things

This is a five-episode series by Dice Media about little, mundane bits of a couple’s life. It is a rom-com about a Delhi boy and a Nagpur girl, who are living together in Mumbai, and are learning to appreciate the little things in their lives. The series does not involve any crises or climaxes, and shows the daily-life of a live-in couple. People loved it for its simplicity and its popularity skyrocketed like no one’s business.

2. Permanent Roommates 2

The second season of the much-famous web series was launched in 2016. The series was created by The Viral Fever (TVF) and Biswapati Sarkar. The series talks the story of Mikesh and Tanya, a young couple who face the prospects of marriage after being in a long distance for three years, futher. The second season has been appreciated and has been called a spoof on big-fat Bollywood weddings.

3. Girl in the city

Launched by Bindass, this web series is the story of a 21-year-old girl who moves to Mumbai to fulfill her dreams. The series features around Meera’s life of settling down in the busy city, and her experiences with various people she comes across. The show garnered over 28 million views, says TOI. The show had a total of 13 episodes. Meera came to be known as ‘The’ girl in the city and people loved her for her character.

4. Tripling

TVF created a story of three siblings Chandan, Chanchal, and Chitvan, who set out on an unplanned road trip that culminates at their parent’s home. The show has already broken its own viewership record of 12 million views and has been appreciated for its humorous dialogues and a catchy soundtrack.

5. Sex Chat with Pappu and Papa

Yash Raj Films’ unique web series about a father imparting sex education to his son is another series you must watch. The series deals with different sex and sexuality related themes with honesty and a lot of humour. The characters discuss topics such as masturbation, pregnancy, condoms, periods, and homosexuality this five-part online series.

6. Official Chukyagiri

Still & Still Moving Pictures created a web series about an intern in a corporate set-up from the intern’s perspective. The series is well-written, simple and relatable. The quirky charm of the series just adds to the charm of this web series.

7. Baked

ScoopWhoop launched what is known as ‘India’s most ambitious web-series’, Baked. It is about three college roommates who started an entrepreneurial service of midnight food delivery. The second season was launched in 2016 spaced over seven episodes that saw the three roommates continuing their delivery services in the most hilarious manner.

8. Love Shots

Y-Films has yet another romantic offering this year. Love Shots is a collection of six short films. The series was appreciated for its star cast and the concepts. Though the show had its ups and downs, it still did quite well among the audience.

9. The Better Life Foundation

This is a web series by Them Boxer Shorts and is compared to the all-time-favourite show, ‘Office’. The series shows five NGO workers and a volunteer, who are trying to better the world through their philanthropic ways. The show is hilarious and has garnered views from a lot of people.
