An EgyptAir flight from Alexandria’s Burg Al-Arab airport to Cairo was hijacked at 8:30 local time. The hijacker told the pilot of flight MS 181 which was carrying around 81 passengers that he was wearing an explosive belt.
EgyptAir has officially confirmed the reports. There are reports of more than one hijacker on board and the flight has been to diverted Cyprus, where it landed at Larnaca airport on the south coast. According to Associated Press, women and children are being allowed to leave the plane. The unidentified hijackers have not made any more demands as of yet.
