Positive thinking is the belief that good things will happen and that one’s hard work will be crowned with success. It is something diametrically opposed to negative thinking which is being fearful, apprehensive and unsure of success in efforts. Positive thinking is based on optimism, hope, and belief that hard work is never wasted. The effects of positive thinking are miraculous. Psychologists believe that nothing gears up people to make wholehearted efforts to perform some task as positive thinking.

Positive thinking leads a man to success. One, who thinks that he can achieve the things, will put his best to achieve, will not fetter by the problems in the path of success and one day he will win positively. Self-confidence, willpower, perseverance, and hard work are the key factors of success.

Positive thinking is like exercising a muscle. Only it gives you a mental workout. The more you use it, the better you will be at it. It’s not possible to think positive all of the time, but you want the majority of your thoughts to reflect good and happy things. People may not think positive because they might not know the right tools to use for becoming a positive person. Some things that will help you be positive are: coping skills, building up encouragement, changing your thoughts by developing good habits, surrounding yourself with positive people, and being spiritual.

You are a complex collection of thoughts, feelings, attitudes, desires, images, fears, hopes, doubts, opinions and ambitions, each of them constantly changing, sometimes from second to second. Your entire life is the result of the intertwining and interconnecting of these factors.

Positive thinking aids a person find a way in a difficult task or a tough situation. He starts feeling that something can be done to overcome the difficulties that are looming large at that moment. It is said that a serious person finds a way, while an idler finds an excuse. The difference between these two is that of attitude-of being hopeful or being without hope. A person who keeps hopes alive gives himself a chance to succeed, however, difficult the task. He sets in earnest endeavors. He may get the favor of luck, and help may come from unexpected quarters. On the other hand, a person who loses hope can never make a wholehearted effort. His battle is half lost even before the star.

It is the same with the mind. If you plant beautiful, healthy thoughts into your mind you will reap a beautiful, healthy life. If you plant negative thoughts you will reap destruction and despair in your life. If you neglect to feed your mind healthy thoughts and to protect it from negative thoughts, the weeds of destruction will creep in and choke your mind. Another way thoughts can be planted in your mind is through subliminal messages.

Build up encouragement in your heart that you can store so God can bring it to your mind when you need it most. If the economy goes into a recession and you suffer a loss, you will have things stored up that you can draw on when you need to. The reason why it is important to have encouragement that you can live off of until you fill your love tank again.
