The government’s month-old demonetisation move has led to long lines outside the nation’s banks with customers often waiting for hours at end to withdraw their own money. The Delhi wing of the BJP has decided to “express their gratitude” towards the people who have stood in queues to withdraw their own money.
Manoj Tiwari told The Indian Express, “Now, it is our turn to thank them and show our appreciation and respect for their patience.” He added that party workers will visit every household from January 1 to January 10. If people can stand in queues and not complain, can’t we give them a laddoo as a token of our appreciation,” said Tiwari.
Tiwari said that he has asked his party workers to each buy one laddoo for their neighbour. If they can buy five laddoos for five households, “it will be even better”.
It is not known at this point where the laddoos will be sourced from or more importantly, what type of laddoo will be distributed. We wonder how a household of around five (the mean household size of India in 4.8) will be able to split a laddoo.
