If you love food, Mumbai is the city for you, Mumbaikars love eating out, whether it’s sushis at a pricy restaurant or vada pavs outside college. Eating out in the city is almost always associated with food hubs such as Bandra, Lower Parel and Colaba. But what about the far-flung suburbs? People who reside in Kandivali need not have to travel to Bandra or town to get some great grub. We have some great restaurants and cafes in Kandivali itself.

1. The CA Chef

This one is for the (Chartered Accountancy) aspirants out there. A certified CA decided to open this restaurant and kaboom, it was a hit among CA students and regular folk alike. Although it is not located in the mainstream area of Thakur Village, you will love the board games, experimental menu and some amazing coolers.

What we love: Mixed Salad Roll (for the healthy ones), Pav Bhaji Sandwich, Berry Sunrise (Cooler).

Who doesn’t know about The J? Known all over Mumbai for their combination fries, they have now opened a branch in Thakur Village so that you don’t have to take that train to Churchgate.

“I am very happy that we have The J next to our house, now I don’t have to plan to go to Bandra or Churchgate to eat their fries. I can have it every day and satisfy my cravings. It would be better if they have some seating facility,” says Nipun Sancheti.

With veg, non-veg and Jain options, this place is meant for those addicted to fries. If you don’t like what they’ve got, you can go for the ‘Make your own damn fries’ option.

5. Flour Fire

This is my favourite on the list. This place has a rustic feel and who can say no to pizzas? The best part is that the thin crust is made right in front of you in the oven. The pizzas are amazing, the garlic bread is fairly decent and the pasta is to die for. The place is small, so I wouldn’t recommend it for a large group of friends.

What we love: Mexicano pizza, Cheese garlic bread, Art lover pizza, Wood roasted pasta in red sauce. You can try the Pineapple Express pizza if you’re feeling a bit experimental.

6. Ice Cream Bar

This is arguably the most trendy place in Kandivali, especially among college students as this makes a good show for Snapchat and Instagram stories. It’s a small, cozy ice cream parlour, but what stands out is it’s presentation. The cigar rolls here are frozen in nitrogen so it’s fun to play with and the shakes look and taste good.

What we love: Nutella Freaking Shake, Oreo Ice Cream Bar, Chocolate Smoking Cigar.

How much: Rs 200 for two.

Can you go for a date? Yes.

7. Craving Bite

Finally, there is a Starbucks opening in Growel’s Mall, Kandivali East. People have been waiting for this forever, and now you don’t have to go to Oberoi Mall every time you feel like having a good cup of coffee. However, you will have to be a little patient as it is expected to open anytime this month.
