Nocturnal emissions are also known as nightfall or wet dreams. It is the ejaculation of the semen involuntarily. Nocturnal emission or nightfall is a common problem among men. Women can experience wet dreams too. They experience vaginal discharge in their sleep at night.

It occurs mostly in young men reaching puberty. During this stage, the production of the male hormone testosterone increases. Some men can continue to experience this after puberty too. However, the frequency varies. This condition has been associated with dreams too. Dreams of certain sexual nature can cause nocturnal emissions. It may cause one to wake up or some may sleep through it without realizing. This may happen with or without an erection. Nocturnal emission has been correlated to masturbation. It is linked to the frequency of masturbation. Men with a low rate of masturbation have a higher rate of wet dreams. Some testosterone based drugs can also cause in increasing night falls.

There are myths about wet dreams stating that this condition makes one sexually weak. This is not true. This does not cause any sexual or physical weakness. Another myth is that it decreases the sperm count, which is also false. However, when there is excessive nocturnal emissions or wet dreams for a long duration, these problems may happen.

Some of the home remedies for nocturnal emissions can be utilized for reducing the condition. Intake of Sage tea before going to bed reduces the chances of ejaculation. Take fenugreek with honey on a regular basis. Intake of curd daily helps one sleep better without any disturbances. Bottle gourd juice is also known to induce better sleep. Eating onions aids in reducing wet dreams. Bathing with essential oils mixed in a bath can be relaxing.

One should keep one’s mind from wandering. Indulge in hobbies. Listen to relaxing music and read good books. Avoid tea and coffee. Eat healthy food and drink plenty of water to help the body release the toxins from the body. Exercise regularly and practice yoga to keep the body and mind calm and relaxed.
