It’s Christmas Eve! Along with attending mass, exchanging gifts, and the general festivity that seems to have seeped into the very air we breathe now, there is also a lot of sumptuous, sugar-infused food awaiting us. From Red Velvet cake to blueberry cupcakes, from chocolate truffle to customised ice creams – savour all of these, and more this Christmas. Bayside Journal tells you where!

Vienna Bakery

When you enter this iconic bakery that was established way back in 1956, you feel you’re a part of history, too. The bakery is infused with aroma of plum cakes and freshly baked patties. The bakery is generally crowded on all other days, but during Christmas, it’s much more so. One has to wait in line for about an hour or so till one gets their hands on the goodies that Vienna has been selling over the years now. While the hot dogs are a hot sell and the patties is quite satisfying too, one cannot get enough of their range of cakes – be it plum, wine, or fruit cake.

A–1 Bakery

A–1 Bakery is situated on the busy, fashionable street of Hill Road, Bandra. This is the only bakery in Bandra that opens at 5.30 am for foodies all over the city. While they are especially famous for their hot dogs and burgers, their mini cupcakes, mawa cakes, chocolate bars, and apple pies have made their way into the stomach of many a sweet-tooth. What’s more is that they are strictly budget-friendly. Anyone can eat to their heart’s content for less than Rs 150.

American Express Bakery

Just next to A–1 in Bandra is another iconic food-joint: American Express Bakery. It’s quite well-known and very popular for its hot breads among those living in Bandra. Every Christmas, the bakery comes up with a list of sweets on offer. This year, savour the Dundee cake, steak and kidney pie, and chocolate hazelnut babka. Besides that they also have coconut toffee, marzipan, and plum cake to get you all set for this festive season. This place is small and built-in the style of old Portuguese architecture, and is quite a hit among youngsters and tourists.

Theobroma

Hearsch together forms the Trinity of food paradise for food lovers in Bandra. Red Velvet cakes, double chocolate, bread puddings and chocolate eclairs are some of the hit favourites among the crowd and you should definitely not give them a miss. Even though the place is not equipped with a seating arrangement, the good food is enough to draw people in. Amidst a background of trees and chirping birds, it’s the best place to savour on some burgers, cakes and caramel custards this December.
