According to the footage which has been seized by the police, the victim is seen walking along a road talking on his mobile phone when two unidentified men on a scooter suddenly approach him from the opposite direction and start shooting at him. Sukhvinder was shot thrice on his forehead and once on his chest. The murderers are even seen checking to see if he’s dead before fleeing the scene.

Sukhwinder was taken to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS), where he was declared dead on arrival.

“We have got some vital clues in the case, but the details cannot be divulged at this point of time. We hope to catch the culprits soon,” said Rohtak SP Shashank Anand, according to the Indian Express.

The police said that they do not believe the culprits are from Rithal village, where the incident took place.

Sukhwinder’s family said that he did not have any personal feuds or rivalry with anyone.

This isn’t the first time such an incident has happened in the region which is known for producing fine kabaddi players.  Deepak Kumar, a state level kabaddi player, was shot dead in a similar manner in December 2015.
