She Found Filming Star Wars a Pain

She hated the clothes she had to wear in the films especially the very uncomfortable metal bikini in Return of the Jedi, which didn’t allow her to wear any underwear. She joked about it saying, “As we all know, there is no underwear in space.” In her memoir, Wishful Thinking she said, “George Lucas ruined my life.”

A Sought After Script Doctor

Carrie Fisher wasn’t just an actress; her screenwriting skills made her a sought after ‘script doctor‘ in Hollywood. She made some important changes in the screenplays of popular 90s films such as Hook, Lethal Weapon 3, Sister Act, and The Wedding Singer.

Struggled with Bipolar Disorder and Drug Addiction

Fisher was very forthcoming about her diagnosis with bipolar disorder, her struggle with depression, and drug addiction at a time when mental health was rarely discussed especially by Hollywood celebrities. “Carrie Fisher coming out and saying she had bipolar disorder was almost like a bright light for people, showing them that they could achieve their goals even with a mental illness like bipolar disorder,” Natasha Tracy, a mental health blogger and author told TODAY.

An Author and Screenplay Writer

Fisher also wrote a book, Postcards From The Edge, which was turned into a major motion picture starring the likes of Meryl Streep and Shirley McLaine.

James Blunt and Carrie Fisher

A very unusual but absolutely platonic pairing said Fisher. The English singer stayed at Carrie’s Los Angeles home during the recording of his 2003 album Back to Bedlam. The album spawned massive hits such as ‘You’re Beautiful’ and sold 11 million copies worldwide; it appears that the force was passed down to Mr Blunt.
