Sunny Leone and Porn: The Perfect Hypocritical Indian

“People don’t let me forget about my past,” said Sunny Leone on May 8, 2015.

This was Leone’s response to an FIR filed by a Mumbai housewife for objectionable content on her website.

Leone also said that she is done with the adult film industry and that people should stop haunting her about her past when she’s trying to move ahead in life.

Except that she hasn’t let go of any part of her previous life. While she may not be actively involved in acting in adult films anymore, she definitely hasn’t stopped making money off of her past.

According to Forbes India, Leone’s earnings as of Jan 2013 were Rs. 2.6 crore. We know that she doesn’t get paid such an amount for her Bollywood films and making special appearances at corporate events and such like, we had to ask the big question: Where does Leone make her big bucks from?

Answer: From porn. Her website www.sunnyleone.com is one of the most popular adult websites in the world. You can watch videos of Leone doing, well adult things, if you are a m’ember. Membership charges: $9.99 a month. Roughly 12,600 people visit the site daily.

Apart from www.sunnyleone.com, she also owns www.sunlustproducts.com that sells adult videos, clothing, magazines, shoes and toys.

And then there are her Bollywood films and special appearances. That’s right, Bollywood films come third as a source of revenue for Leone.

A cursory check on Leone’s Twitter account reveals quite a few nude shots of Leone in several enticing poses. Her profile on Twitter reads: Penthouse Pet of the Year, Vivid Girl, Indian Adult Film Star , Bollywood actress, Owner of Sunlust Pictures.

When Leone came down to India to try her luck in the Indian film industry, we were impressed. It was the first time that a porn star, an Indian one to boot, showed the guts to come and make a mark in one the world’s most hypocritical countries when it comes to sex.

When Jism 2 did well, we were ecstatic. Here was someone who wasn’t ashamed of who she was. And she was making the right moves. Then it was Ragini MMS 2 and while we didn’t like the film, we really didn’t care. Same with Ek Paheli Leela and Kuch Kuch Locha Hain.

But now we care, Sunny. You are turning out to be exactly like the rest of us: A hypocrite. Why are you suddenly ashamed of your past? Your fans never cared. We never cared. There will always be housewives like Anjali Palan who will berate you. Let them.

We don’t care that you are a porn star. Just don’t play us for fools.
