“So our marketing team keeps coming up with such new ideas. ‘WOW’ was planned keeping in mind that all-women groups would love something like this. We started this with Parched which was a women-centric movie and many females approached us and said they like this idea and we should continue it. So we decided to do it for the next movie and received good feedback,” said a marketing executive of PVR Cinemas.
Imagine watching your favourite film star taking off his shirt on a 70mm screen and being able to discuss it with your girlfriends at the same time. Drooling over handsome hunks and whistling loudly, now that’s a paisa vasool movie outing!
“We usually pick movies for WOW, keeping in mind the fan following. We have had special women only screening for Baar Baar Dekho, Pink, M.S. Dhoni and now Befikre, You know that actors like Ranveer Singh or Sushant Rajput have massive fan base and women love them. It’s needless to say that they would like a special screening. And till date such shows has almost 50-60% advanced bookings,” reveals the marketing executive.

And even if a male books a ticket for himself he won’t be allowed for the show and no refund is given as well unless the mistake is done at our end. No spouses or kids are allowed. We are also giving complimentary cookies and coffee. A special low-calorie menu is curated keeping in mind the health aspect as many females are now opting for healthier options,” shares the marketing executive.
It goes without saying that these celebrities have a great fan following and people would love to watch their films on the silver screen. The team is also planning to have a women-only screening for Aamir Khan’s upcoming movie Dangal. It is yet to be seen if PVR Cinemas’ WOW Wednesdays will actually work or not.
