Live! at the Library – The Saudade Edition

All attendees get free wine from Reveilo Wines, curated by Wine You Up!

April’s most infamous appearance in poetry is in the first section of T. S. Eliot’s The Wasteland, where he describes the month as ‘mixing memory and desire’. Elsewhere, Edna St. Vincent Millay says April is “full of whispers, full of sighs”. April is inextricably linked with poets and poetry, and commemorated as National Poetry Month. With all the longing and loss that accompanies April, the latest edition of Live! at the Library focuses on the theme of SAUDADE.

‘Saudade’ is an untranslatable word in Portuguese, meaning a deep melancholy or nostalgia for something or someone that is lost and will never return, often described as “the love that remains”, a dreamy wistfulness that is the perfect complement to this month of flowers. Poets in the city: we want you to bring all your feels.

The third edition of Live! At the Library, presented by Helter Skelter Magazine and Ministry Of New, will see some great poetry and prose and dance for the very first time. As always, poets from across the city are invited to participate in an OPEN MIC session.

Live! at the Library – The Saudade Edition will see performances by:

Rosalyn D’mello
Ramya Rao
José Neil Gomes
