Air Pollution Will Kill You If You Cycle In These 13 Indian Cities

The level of air pollution is so bad that it’s better to travel by car, and add to the pollution

Cycling is supposed to be good for you. It’s good cardio and increases muscle strength. A lot of developed countries encourage cycling to work. In fact, Mark Rutte, the Dutch Prime Minister, cycles to work everyday.

But in these 13 cities in India, cycling for more than a certain amount of minutes outweighs all the benefits that your body gets because of cycling. The study published in the journal–Preventive Medicine–shows that air pollution from motor vehicles and factories is so bad that exposure to the elements while cycling increases the chances of an individual getting asthma, cancer, and heart disease.

If you cycle in Gwalior or Allahabad for more than 30 minutes a day for five days a week, you are at risk. If you cycle in Delhi for more than five hours a week, you are screwed.
