Every student has unique learning abilities. Though many schools focus equally on all students and their curriculums are designed to provide a similar academic emphasis for their students, some students require special attention due to factors which cannot be overlooked. Several special education schools have opened their doors across the US to facilitate education to students with learning disabilities. These schools for special needs deliver a unique learning experience which combines smaller classrooms and purposeful activities with trained faculty who are professionally trained to understand each student’s particular abilities, weaknesses and strengths.

The Devereux Glenholme School, Washington, CT (for ages 10-21):

The Glenholme School is a therapeutic special needs boarding school for young people with Asperger’s syndrome, attention deficit disorder, depression, anxiety, and other social and emotional learning difficulties. Brehm is a boarding school for special needs which addresses the academic, social, and emotional needs of students with complex learning disabilities and learning differences. The special needs school employs 150 faculty/staff who work with each student on a multi-leveled schedule, in which new students benefit from intensive, one-on-one instruction and then progress to more general classes of 8 or 9 students taught at grade level.
