In Fatwa Market, Sonu Nigam’s Hair Is More Expensive than Mamata Banerjee’s Life

Who are you calling poor, Mr Snapchat CEO?

Sonu Nigam has been issued a fatwa for his controversial azaan tweets. West Bengal Minority United Council vice-president Syed Sha Atef Ali Al Quaderi has said that he will “personally announce an award of Rs 10 lakh” for the person who will shave the singer’s head and put a garland of torn shoes around him. Quaderi called Sonu Nigam an anti-national and said he should be driven out of the country.

Sonu isn’t the first person to have a price on his head. Yogesh Varshney, a leader of the BJP’s youth wing in Bengal, had announced a 11-lakh rupee bounty for her head because the police had denied permission for a rally in Birbhum. If you think Indians hand out bounties to the tune of a few lakhs, you were wrong! RSS Kundan Chandrawat announced a 1-crore bounty on Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s head.

Indians are so rich they don’t mind throwing a couple of lakhs on fatwas and bounties. Heck, we offered 15,000 USD for Sonu Nigam’s hair, and his hair isn’t that long anyway. Who have you allegedly called poor Mr Evan Spiegel? That’s just chump change for us.
