Punjab will try to get back to their winning ways while Mumbai Indians will try to continue their winning streak.
Kings XI Punjab
Manan Vohra’s great knock of 95 runs in the last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad failed to help Punjab register a win. They ended up losing by 5 runs. A similar knock will be expected from Manan Vohra if Punjab wants to register a win against Mumbai Indians.
The overseas players have failed to score runs and get good scores for Punjab. Their hard hitters too have failed to boost King XI’s prospects in the last few matches. Shaun Marsh and Martin Guptill, who are great openers, may set Kings XI Punjab off to a good start.
Indore has always been a bad ground for fast bowlers. Punjab has a good youngster who can pick up regular wickets and bowl well. Axar Patel can play a key role in stopping Mumbai Indians from scoring runs and setting up a difficult target to chase.
Mumbai Indians have got the best start of the season with 4 wins from 5 matches. The Pandya brothers have troubled the opposition and got MI out of bad situations and consequently helped them to win matches. Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya will be expected to play well and get the fifth win of the season in row for MI.
Skipper Rohit Sharma has been batting at number three and has failed to score runs, but he seemed to be back in form in the last match against Gujarat Lions. Sharma scored 40 runs of 29 balls. If he scores runs along with the opening pair, Mumbai can set up a good target for Punjab.
Mumbai Indians’ bowling speedster, Lasith Malinga, will be expected to bowl a better length and stop the strong batting line up of Kings XI Punjab. Malinga was pretty expensive against Gujarat Lions. In his 4 overs, he conceded 51 runs and picked up 1 wicket. The duo of Lasith Malinga and Mitchell McClenaghan will play a key role in preventing Punjab from scoring too many runs.
