Match Preview: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians

A win against KKR may just get MI a top-two finish

Kolkata Knight Riders

Shakib All Hasan has left for Bangladesh for a series against Ireland and will not be available for the rest of the season for KKR. Nathan Coulter-Nile too has been ruled out of today’s encounter due to a blow on his helmet in the previous game against Rising Pune Supergiant.

The problems for KKR have increased as a key player won’t be available for the playoffs as he is leaving for national duties. Chris Woakes will be leaving for England after today’s match. KKR will hope to register a win against Mumbai in today’s game.

Mumbai Indians

Jos Buttler will be leaving for national duties after today’s encounter against KKR. In absence of Buttler, Lendl Simmons will be opening for Mumbai with Parthiv Patel.

The good news for Mumbai is that the Big Man Kieron Pollard is back in form and has been with all guns blazing. He played a good knock against Kings XI Punjab and will be expected to perform well tonight against KKR.

Mumbai Indians will try and keep their bowling better than the last match. In the last match, the Mumbai bowlers were pretty expensive and conceded 230 runs. Lasith Malinga has failed to bowl at his pace and get wickets. He will be trying to bowl better and get his form back just before the playoffs.
