Christmas comes with its own festivities and traditions, which are celebrated all through the world in as many different ways. But at its heart, be it Mumbai, or Miami, Christmas stands for happiness, joy, and spreading love in one’s own and other’s lives.

Our Lady of Salvation, Dadar
At Our Lady of Salvation, the crib attracts a lot of youngsters during Christmas. During Christmas Eve, parishioners go for mass, which spills out in the garden area because of the large number of people attending. People enjoy the cakes given after the mass.
St. Michael’s Church, Bandra
St. Michael’s Church is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Mumbai. This church was originally built by the Portuguese, and was formerly known as San Miguel. The Christmas decorations are done by the confirmation batch of the year as well as the Sunday school children. There is a new theme each year. The church’s choir is popular. They revamp old carol tunes and come up with new tunes each year.
Our Lady of Health, Andheri
To spread joy and love, which is the true essence of Christmas, Our Lady of Health organises Christmas parties for poor and orphaned children. Catechism students play with these children and have a good time together.
Orlem Church, Malad
During Christmas, Orlem Church has a Malayalam mass, which is then followed by an English service. For the first time this year, there is going to be a themed crib at the church. The theme is going to revolve around the idea of peace.
St. Thomas Church, Goregaon
Come Christmas and the young busy themselves in making and decorating the parish crib for the church. The different communities within the parish compete with each other to make the best crib. The winner may be one, but the competition makes people come together, and recreate the scene of the birth of Christ.
Remedy Church, Vasai
The Remedy Church organises a Christmas rally each year. In this rally, people bring the Christmas festivities to the streets, and walk around the villages skirting this Mumbai suburb, dressed in fancy costumes. They even bring in elephants and camels to their rallies.
